Dune: Awakening Singleplayer Mode Launches Sept 22

Funcom is adding a dedicated singleplayer mode to Dune: Awakening, launching on September 22. This mode will include the final chapter of Book One’s story, allowing solo players to experience the narrative from start to finish without other players around.

The move comes in response to frequent player requests and issues with griefing on multiplayer servers, even in non-PvP zones. Singleplayer offers three preset difficulty levels or full manual customization of survival settings like experience gain, enemy strength, and harvesting rates.

One of the biggest perks of singleplayer is how the Deep Desert works. The map never resets and player-built bases are not wiped weekly. The Coriolis Storm still arrives but is less destructive, meaning repairs are needed but the base stays. The Landsraad endgame is also present, simulating other players engaging in faction conflict to maintain a competitive feel.

There are clear rules about character transfer between modes. Singleplayer characters are exclusive to that mode and cannot cross into official multiplayer. Characters created on private or self-hosted servers can be used on any such server and moved between them. Official server characters can move to private or self-hosted servers, but not back, to protect server integrity. Backed-up bases and vehicles transfer with characters when moving between applicable server types.

For players who prefer solo or private play, this mode removes the pressure of other players while preserving the core survival and political gameplay. With full control over difficulty and a persistent Deep Desert, Dune: Awakening’s singleplayer mode aims to offer a complete experience tailored to individual tastes.
