Early in your journey through Dune: Awakening, the tutorial tasks you with building a sub-fief in the South Hagga Basin. While that first placement is flexible, you will soon have the opportunity to build a new sub-fief almost anywhere on Arrakis—with a few restrictions. Certain map areas are blocked entirely, so you cannot place a sub-fief console there. Choosing a Mid-to-Late-Game Location

When selecting a permanent base site, weigh three criteria: centrality, nearby resources, and hazards. A central position reduces travel time to distant regions. Proximity to resources like spice fields, water, or rare materials ensures steady supply chains. Hazards—such as worm zones or hostile NPC areas—can make a location dangerous, so balance risk with reward.
